Need a laugh?

I sent a handwritten note in the girl's lunches every day. I've been doing it since McKinley started 1st grade. You should know that by now, I'm running out of things to say. McKinley recently complained about the lack of good material. The next morning she asked to write her own. Yes, a note to herself. I luckily snuck it out, showed it to Shawn, and snapped a picture.'Oh self! You are georgeous! You're also so smart & funny.
Remember! Don't let Phftttttt run you life! '

I knew I had to sneak a peek when she asked me how to spell 'Phftttttt'!

We'll be discussing some English and grammatical high points later today:)

This is precious! My mom used to write notes on our napkins, too. :-) Guess you're going to have to come up with some new material - maybe get a book of sayings, like Chicken Soup or something like that?

Oh funny! We've always done school lunches unless they're serving something really gross like corn dogs...
I should start sticking notes in their backpacks tho.
Great idea!

What is Phftttttt?

How gorgeous that she wrote such a beautiful note to herself.
Nothing wrong with HER self-esteem!

You and Shawn have 'done good' in the parents stakes.

That is awesome! You are doing a great job to have such a proactive kiddo! I teach The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens to 6th graders and this is actually one of the activities in the book. It says to write a post-it note to yourself that says "I will not let __________ decide how I'm going to feel." It's all about teaching kids that they should make the right choices and follow their values because it is RIGHT, not because someone else told them to.
