Bath Time!

We've discussed here before about baths disgusting me.

We've discussed here before how Shawn bathed our daughters most of their younger years and that they were all showerers by age 2.

But if there was ever a bathtub that could change my mind, this just might be it.

If only I had $2,500 to spare, and a new house with a bathroom this would fit in.

So I'll just stick with baths grossing me out.

It saves me money.

And sanity.

How My Blog Got Its Name

I knew my day was going to be full.  On my agenda on my phone the days events took up a full screen.  I have a big phone.  (Oh!  I haven't blogged about my new phone!  I will tomorrow:)

It started with meeting the builder representative at the newest model we'll be staging soon.  We wanted to meet the community manager because she has some pretty specific ideas (ahem), but she couldn't be there.  Instead we took pictures and apologized to painters and carpenters.  Then we headed to a local furniture store to start picking things.  When my boss is on a mission she walks three times her normal pace.  I added the shopping to my calorie burning for the day because I thought it was only right.

I got to come home for an hour and a half that I spent working on a new website I'm in charge of and e-mailing my mentor group for an upcoming marathon.

And not doing laundry.  Shhhh....don't tell.

Too soon I was headed to drinks with my boss and a prospective client.  Three waters.  Our bill for the three of us was $3.24 for the chips and salsa.  Talk about a good deal on a work meeting!

Too soon I had to leave that to pick up Reagan for gymnastics.  As soon as I dropped her off I had to run back to school to get her sisters from musical practice.  Then back to make a stop at Hobby Lobby for 6th grade science project supplies.  Then the race to gymnastics to get Reagan in time.  By the time I got home I'd driven 30 miles, on the same street!  Such is the life of a mom though.

In case you were wondering, that's not good for gas mileage on an '03 Expedition.

After racing through our chores we grabbed whatever we could find for dinner and spend the rest of the night bonding with the furniture in the den.

My couch had missed me:c)

When Berries Attack

We have a beautiful Yaupon Holly tree in our front yard. I've photographed it before and shared it on here. I love the tree. I love clipping it in December and using it to decorate for Christmas. I love that it hides the part of the house that needs to be stripped and re-painted. But what I don't like? When the berries turn black. And attack.

It happens every year, but as the tree matures, the attack gets bigger and bigger every year. It doesn't usually bother us because we don't spend a lot of time on the edge of the driveway. But since I drive through it to get in and out of the garage from time to time smashed berries do appear in the house and in my car.

But the night we had our family party my Aunt Janis parked in the worst possible spot. And then got out of the car in her tennis shoes. With the first step that she took the berries infiltrated each and every crevice in the bottom of her shoes. She didn't notice, who would? When she walked into the house I didn't notice right away but soon enough I was drawn to the black footprints across my beige carpet. So between all the other stuff I was doing, I cleaned the carpet and warned other people. Poor Janis, she spent about 20 minutes with a wire brush and an ice pick cleaning out all those crevices.

There's something about the berry once it's smashed. It becomes like super glue. Trust me, I've had a few stuck to the bottom of my bare foot lately. It's like removing a wart from a witches nose.

During her cleaning time Shawn went outside and swept the berries over so she wouldn't step in them again. A few days later he took a straight edged shovel out because the smashed ones were hermetically sealed to the concrete. But I called him in for dinner before the massive pile was cleaned up. And a week later neither one of us had taken the time to dispose of them. So a week of driving over them? Yeah, it got ugly.So a few days ago I attacked. With a push broom with a scraper on one side and a shovel, I fought the berries...and won.

And then we trimmed the tree and shook tons of berries back down.

Sigh.

We are under attack once again.

Help.

My Left Boot

I have favorite winter boots. They're not for warmth, they're for looks. Almost every time I wear them someone comments on them. I heart them. Bunches. I found them at a ritzy consignment store on $1 shoe day. I actually looked past them several times, but a weird lady who was also there told me I should try them on. I'm so glad she did! They're comfy and fashionable. What else do you need?

So you can see why at this moment, I am about to go crazy because I can only find one! Over a month ago I remember putting one away and telling myself, "I sure hope I can remember where I'm leaving the other one." Now why would I remember that, but not where it is? (And while we're on the subject, why would I only grab one?) I've offered rewards. I've pleaded for help. I've cleaned my house from top to bottom. I've moved furniture. The left one is no where to be found. Does that make sense?? Of course not! The house is only 2000 square feet, where could it have gone?

So my friends, if you find a perfect, stylish, comfortable, black left boot, call me. Maybe we can make a match.

I'm offering a reward:c)

To Be Continued...

Remember when I told you the housekeeper at Parc 55 broke my laptop screen??? Well, my sweet husband ordered a new one and started putting it in Saturday. I got a phone call from him on the way back from an audition with McKinley. He wanted to tell me my laptop was currently in 33 pieces. And 25 of those pieces were screws. And...he had one more thing to tell me...he'd ordered the wrong screen. My poor little pink laptop. So to make it easier on himself, he left it in 33 pieces. The new screen should be here in three days. So my wonderful trip down memory lane of my San Francisco trip that I know you all are waiting for...is going to take a bit longer. I know you all are crushed. (In my mind you all are crushed, so go along with me;)

But in other news, I re-broke my foot yesterday! I'll share more on that later. Since without pictures it's the only thing I have to share.

Wow. My life is sad right now.

If you all ever come back, I promise I'll make it worth your time!

Hello??

Anybody out there??

I'm still alive....sort of

Well, I seem to have disappeared from the blogging world here lately, haven't I? I am still here. Just insanely busy.

McKinley made Junior High All-State Choir this year and we have spent the last three days staying in a hotel in another town while she attended daily rehearsals. Three hour rehearsals. It all culminated with an amazing concert yesterday afternoon at our church. It was amazing. The $200 a night hotel did not have free internet in the rooms. What's up with that?? I did sit in the lobby to use it but it was cold and I really wanted to be in the rehearsals.

That is another post for another day though. I even have a few pictures.

You've been warned.

For now I have to decide if I want to unpack or just live out of my suitcase until Wednesday morning when I leave with Kennedy and McKinley to go out of town for Children's All State Choir.

Such tough decisions I have.

So stay tuned, I will be back.

I know you're on the edge of your seats:c)

Running on Fumes

It's that time of year. The craziness of the holiday season sets in the day before Thanksgiving. It doesn't stop until school is out for the year.

That's the weird part.

The holidays themselves don't wear me out, it's all the activities in between.

In the last two weeks we've had:
-two birthday parties
-two choir concerts
-three field trips
-an out-of-town trip
-a home tour that I was in charge of
-five board and committee meetings
-two stressful auditions with call backs
-and a partridge in a pear tree

I'm kind of kidding on that last one. Well, sort of. I do have a very 'birdie' spot on my driveway. As in, a huge pile. Just in one spot. Weird. But it's probably not a partridge...and it's a Yaupon Holly tree.

Anyway, moving on.

In the next two weeks we have:

-a voice recital
-a piano recital
-a daughter singing at a Christmas party
-three field trips
-two classroom parties
-50 teacher and staff gifts to make
-four honor choir practices
-a photography session
-a big project due
-a dinner to cater
-an out-of-town trip
-two orthodontic appointments
-a dentist appointment

Not to mention gift buying, wrapping, cooking, and cleaning.

Help me.

I thought this picture was appropriate.
My car holds 26 gallons.

Think I'm running on fumes?
