Pops

Who out there in blogger world has heard of Arcadia, Oklahoma?

Come on, home of the round barn? On old route 66? The Mother Road?

Last Friday McKinley was in another town for her COCDA Honor Choir. I had planned to spend the whole day out there since I had nothing else on my calendar. Well, the best laid plans are easily ruined. Or something like that. I've never been good with those kinds of phrases. I had gotten a call the Sunday before that my Great Aunt Sis had died. Of course, the funeral ended up being Friday. My uncle and aunt from Lubbock decided to fly in with Amelia and AJ for the funeral. Suddenly my calm Friday was getting crazy! I stayed with McKinley as long as I could and then headed back to town to pick the Funk's up at the airport. I was burning gas like crazy! Luckily it was cheap!!

After the funeral and some family time at my cousins house we headed back out of town to get McKinley. I have heard of Pop's and really wanted to go sometime but since it is so far away it had never happened. When I realized how close we'd be I kidnapped my passengers and started heading that way.

You know when you're at Pops when you see this. What I didn't know was that the restaurant is in a gas station. A new one, but still. We were a little unsure until we saw the front window. They sell the pops in colors. I was amazed how many choices each color group had! We were seated and told that we could go to the refrigerators in the back and pick our drinks. Here are some of the options. It was overwhelming!

I couldn't pick this one. I couldn't pronounce it.
This one was cute but she was skinnier then me. I couldn't have that.
This is just a part of the yellow group. Overwhelming?? I think so!
I wanted McKinley to get this one since she'd spent the day singing this part. Her reply was, "Um. No."
The one I didn't take a picture of was Kitty Piddle!

No one picked this one. Maybe because Reagan is really good at sounding out words!

Here are a few of our choices.

This one was interesting. It came with a mustache.

I liked the message on this one.

I even enjoyed the bottle caps. Yes, I'm easily entertained. I think most of us knew that by now.

After a good dinner we went outside to watch the light show. If you wait long enough...

you get to see this!

It was such a fun evening! I hope those of you that can will stop by there. We certainly will again!

I LOVE THIS POST!!!!! I want to link to this for my Daily Cup of Okie - maybe on Monday? How cool. I never thought it was anything more than that big bottle. I didn't know it lit up or that all those varieties of sodas were available.

Now that the weather is cooling off, I've been trying to come up with more inside ideas for our Family Night on Wednesdays .... this has been on my list for awhile, ever since Kellen went to a birthday party there. Thanks for reminding me!
