I told you I was sick

I am a lover of Erma Bombeck. She wrote about things that I thought would never happen to me. I was young. And stupid. After three children everything she ever said is now painfully true. One of her columns is ringing completely true recently. To copy it would be plagiarism and would involve getting off the couch....so, I'll sum up.

Her husband comes home sick one day from work and she spent the next few days caring to his every need. His coworkers sent flowers and called to check on him.

Her son gets it soon after and she drives to school to pick up his assignments, spends hours playing cards with him, and cooks all his favorite foods. His classmates sent get well cards.

When her daughter came down with it she did it all again.

Then she got it. Nobody made her any special foods. No on played games with her. No one sent cards or called. No one cared. The house fell apart, and children went wild. When she told her husband she didn't feel well he told her she'd be fine. Everyone else who had it was better.

I'm living that. Life doesn't stop because I'm sick. It does for everyone else, but for me, nope. There are dishes piled in the sink, laundry stacked in the laundry room, clutter everywhere! I'm sure every mom reading this can understand.

So back to Erma Bombeck. She ended that column by saying, "Someday there will be a standard tombstone for moms that will read,"

"I TOLD YOU I WAS SICK"

Can I get an AMEN??
