Anyone know what a coccyx is? I didn't. Until yesterday that is.
Sunday I was horsing around with my cousins Tyler and Amelia and Ashley. What actually happened is a bit of a blur but basically I hit the floor. Well, not quite the floor...but the edge of a tiled step. It hurt right away and I had to be helped off the floor. My lower back has hurt since then. After over 6 hours of being in the car Monday I was hurting badly enough that I took a pillow with me to McKinley's choir concert. As we were leaving I noticed my left leg was numb. That did it, Shawn told me I needed to go to the doctor.
He never worries. I always freak the heck out about everything and he is always calm, cool, and collected. To the point that I go crazy. When he says it is bad enough to be checked out, I know it's serious.
My doctor was quite impressed with my bruising. He told me it's quite a hard area to bruise and I did a really good job. If it weren't quite so 'low'...I'd share it with you. I did take a picture of it, which is quite hard to do, but it's a bit graphic:) And let me just say, I am so glad that area of my body is always behind me. And covered. 'Nuff said.
So, figured it out yet?
Yep, I broke my tailbone.
I now have three prescriptions, a donut pillow, and orders to take it easy for a month.
Here are my predictions for what will happen over the next month-
*My children will slowly go from sheer embarrassment to mortification to be seen with a mother who carries a donut pillow everywhere with her.
*I will gain massive amounts of weight since I cannot run, walk, bike, or use the elliptical.
*My arms will become cut and defined because I can work them out.
*I will burn my workout pants because they are currently the only comfortable pants I own that don't hurt so I'm wearing them everyday.
*I will do things that I don't understand and might not remember if I have recently taken my muscle relaxer.
*I will watch every dvd I own.
*I will have burns on my thighs from resting my laptop on them for such long amounts of time.
So, there you have it. Your anatomy lesson for the day.
Let the pity party begin.

Ouch! On the upside, you don't have to feel guilty about not exercising!
Sometimes it leads to a permanent injury. Ask me - I know! Be careful.
And they didn't wanna put your butt in a sling???
I had too.
Sorry.
Can you imagine the cast???
So not pratical.
On many levels.
And I'll stop now.
You run a family show here.
Feel better soon.
I'm sorry I was cracked myself up and could not spell practical.
Again so sorry.
Sorry hun. I told you it was broken and you didn't believe me!
Kev and I know your pain! Just don't do anything important while on the your medications, I'm telling you this from experience!
Hugs, Aunt Carrie
Hope you feel better soon. :(
You can truely relate to the often used phrase "What a Pain in the Butt!" I hope you get better soon. I could teach you to Knit!
Ohhh girl I am so sorry. I actually broke mine 4-1/2 years ago and actually had it removed after suffering with terrible pain for 6 weeks. There isn't a thing you can do about except wait it out. I was carrying around the bright blue donut too. When I finally went on my own to an orthopedist he said I had no choice but to have it removed. I thought that was absurd and I wouldn't be able to sit down. But, turns out you don't actually NEED a coccyx. I had it removed and did great from that surgery (after I recovered). Seven months after that injury I started hurting again only to have an MRI and they discovered at the same time I broke my coccyx I had also sustained a bulging disc and a pars defect on both sides. You can read back over a very old blog on my page if you want. I will be praying that you heal much faster than I did. I still suffer with back pain daily. Good luck!!
Ouch! Be careful with the laptop though. I have a parent here in town who did get serious burns on the front of both thighs when her laptop caught fire while she was working on Photoshop. She was hospitalized, had skin grafts and then had to "take it easy" for a while. Don't go there.
On a better note, I am soooooo glad you are back to blogging though.
My aunt broke her tailbone when she slipped going down the stairs and "bounced" down most of them. Hey at least pool season will bee here soon and you can take it easy floating! :)
So sorry that you are 'out of commission' for awhile. Hope you start to feel better soon, but don't rush things or you could make matters worse... Use this time to make your children become your personal assistants/slaves. :-)
Okay! I know that isn't suppose to be funny...but I had to laugh. I will fall on the floor laughing when you bring that donut to Sunday School. Maybe you should take a break. I can't think of anything more uncomfortable than those chairs. Make sure Shawn gets you the nicest pool float this year. You have a great excuse.
