Heavenly Bars

When I taught basket weaving classes at our Community Education organization I got to class one night, opened my binder, and this recipe was inside one of the pockets. I didn't recognize it, the handwriting was strange, and no one could figure out how it had gotten there. I brought it home and filed it away. That was almost 7 years ago.

Yesterday was the day. I was looking for an easy dessert that I had all the ingredients for. This one fit.

I grabbed everything I needed and got started.

Heavenly Bars

2 c. brown sugar
2 c. peanut butter
1 c. corn syrup
1 small box instant vanilla pudding mix
4 c. Rice Krispies
4 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. butter, melted
8 T. milk
3/4 c. chocolate chips
3/4 c. peanut butter

Place Rice Krispies in a large bowl; set aside. In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, 2 cups peanut butter, and corn syrup. Heat and stir over low heat until combined. Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup vanilla pudding mix. Pour over Rice Krispies and stir to combine. Press into a 15 x 10 inch cookie sheet. In a separate bowl mix powdered sugar, remaining vanilla pudding mix, melted butter, and milk. Stir until smooth. Pour over mixture in pan. Combine chocolate chips and 3/4 c. peanut butter, microwave until smooth. Pour over mixture in pan. Spread evenly. Chill and cut into little tiny pieces.

This took no time at all! I didn't wait for anything to cool, just kept mixing and spreading.

Shawn cut them last night and after we realized how rich they were we cut everyones portion in half!

I don't know where the name 'Heavenly' came from.

These are sinful!!

If you cut them into little tiny pieces like I suggest, you can probably feed 117 people. The church choir, all the Wal-Mart employees, or an entire middle school class. If you cut them into 2 x 2 squares, you can still share with several friends but everyone will pass out in a diabetic coma.

Oh, one last thing...you might need help cutting them. I apparently have no upper body strength. I had to call in reinforcements!

I have a recipe similar to this, although mine has less ingredients. But you are right - SO rich yet SO good!
